Ideas, innovations, solutions, three words that have always revolutionised the way the world functions. And that is what Strategym – the Annual Business Convention of JBIMS is all about. We are proud to present the 19th edition of this event ‘Strategym: Resurgence 2017′ after a long wait of three years. The event will be held in the month of October and further details such as venue, theme and topics will be updated soon.
History of Strategym
It was in 1995 that Professor Moradian and Professor Anil Nayak harnessed the notion that was longperturbing them, in response to the scene of a large cache of talent and ideas that Jamnalal BajajInstitute of Management Studies had been gradually holding and nurturing in its bosom and paradoxically, so to say, an equal absence of a proper outlet to let that stream of knowledge flow outwards in the industrial world, where it was believed, it could have found a moulding hand. The salvaging attitude that these minds possess towards Bajaj made them contemplate of providing an apt podium for the students to portray their innovate ideas. And so was born Strategym – a brainchild of these two pillars, which was expected to be the foundation on which the future calibre of JBIMS was to be given an opportunity.
As the years rolled by, Strategym started rooting deeper and deeper into the existence of JBIMS. And one support that was perennially there was the involvement of Professor Sydney Prabhu, who always assured the industry that what got served, was better then what most others were to offer. The story of Strategym is incomplete without the mention of these three visionaries.
Today, as Strategym readies itself to enter into its 19th year, it leaves behind a colourful and prolific history of success. The vast panoply of panellists that have contributed to this event in terms of time and wisdom is invaluable. Had it not been for their support, Strategym would not have been as well-known as it is today. Though enumerating all of the judges would be an endless task, but a few who have been humble enough to guide the students are worth mentioning. The names in this parenthesis would include Ms. Chanda Kochhar, Mr Kishore Biyani, Mr. Ajay Piramal, Mr. Keki Mistry and Mr. Manohar Joshi along with many other luminaries who are as precious as these.
If the participation of judges was a thing to reckon with, the students also made sure they delivered nothing but the best. Giving ample evidence of this gesture by the students are the many papers that have been adopted by relevant organisations from the industry to be implemented. These include “Restructuring banking in rural India” by Bank of India, “Housing Price Index” by LIC, “From Calamity to Disaster Management” by UNDP, “Ensuring Insurance” by Birla Sunlife Insurance and many others. This further strengthened the role of Strategym as a bridge between industry and B-schools.
